You know, with lots of smart devices and video chats and whatnot?

Is that a foolish thing to do with regards to things like privacy and security?

I'll admit, I work in IT but I've never been paranoid about this stuff myself.

the issue isnt really the security of the connection as much as it's the fact that your login to the whole smart home network is based on a email address and password combo you use for probably a million other online services, that google or facebook probably stores in a txt file on their servers

I'd at least want 802.1x set up, but not many consumer devices support that
