When I saw the prequels as a kid, I really liked them.

Darth Maul was cool with his dual lightsaber and he had red and black skin with spikes on top of his head.

Christopher Lee was badass as Count Dooku and General Grievous was cool as heck with his four lightsabers.

While they didn't do much in Episode 2 and 3, they made it up for it in the Clone Wars series.

Kids like cool shit like that and will have fond memories of them.

Kids nowadays doesn't even want the toys and other merchandise from the newer films because those characters doesn't leave any lasting impressions on them.

Like who the hell wants a figure of Rose Tico or Holdo anyway?
They look like normal everyday people, that's not interesting for kids.
