Sounds like people don't dislike cause quality, they're just used to stuff like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad being massive epics where you must tune in each week, and it sounds like this is more pick up and watch at your leisure. Plenty of Problem of the Week episodes, with big plot running scarce for a while (hell, usually nonexistent in season 1).
