They always want something right away, and never understand how a judge could rule against them. Bonus points if they say the courts are biased or unfair, when they've done 0 legal research, their case has no merit, whatever they're asking for they don't deserve, or think because the other side has a lawyer, they should be granted leniency.

i see lawyer and attorney used interchangeably, attorney more so in formal process

The court asks why you don't have a lawyer present, and will advise you that you will need one. But if the person is persistent, the Judge can rule that the person is acting as their own legal council (against advisement).

Depending on the situation, I would absolutely represent myself.

I sat in on docket for quite a few months and a few other trials during that period, and I have a rough understand of how the system works.

The best is when the forms we give have detailed instructions and yet people still ask questions, showing they obviously didnt read it and it makes me smile when they go on to lose their case
