It's an adaptation of The Long Halloween, IIRC

Thats weird because they are apparently already making a direct-to-video animated adaptation of that. Not to mention its influence on Nolans series. Im down for it though.

Should have rebooted while they had a chance. Now we got a universe where Jared Leto isn't Joker. Joaquin Phoenix is a younger Joker. Ben Affleck isn't Batman. Will Smith is out as Deadshot.

Whatever mistakes they've made, they should move forward and not scratch off adaptations as non-canon. Sure, actors are gonna look different from film to film. Batman had that bad day when he was willing to murder an innocent man because said innocent might turn against society. Yes, Joker acted a little weird that one time. His tattoos can be removed and we'll just forget we ever saw those grills. And, yes, Lex Luthor was a rich kid who thought piss jokes were funny.

But to say Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam are canon and the rest are not is too much of a clusterfuck. This is a new precedent and not a very good one. It stings. Even for somebody with only a casual awareness of what goes on in comics, this is not how it should be. But they can't up and reboot when they have three good films to their credit, a possible fourth and fifth ones on the way, and a shared Justice League film.

The Rock says Black Adam is an antihero. So that guaran-damn-tees that he is an antihero and not a villain. To the fans of the comics, The Rock says know your role and shut your mouth.

The Rock said it. Not me. <_<
He is an antihero though

The new Batman movie is supposed to take place in his early days, which is why Robert Pattinson is playing Batman. Affleck is still gonna be Batman in any current-day adaptation. He just wont be in this one as Ive stated its Batman from the past.

I mean...

It's nice to finally get a Batman movie where he does a little detective work, but I don't think a whodunit is the best approach for a Batman film.

What? It's the perfect approach for a Batman movie.

It sounds like something that would be a Batman Animated Series episode.

It would make a good episode of Batman, The Animated Series. But you didn't have to pay to see BTAS in its first run.

Knowing who the villain is in a superhero movie is like knowing the opponent in a boxing match or a UFC fight. The marquee reads Superman vs. General Zod, you're gonna see Superman against Zod. The marquee reads Spider-Man vs. Dr. Octopus, it's Spidey against Doc Ock.

But this is like advertising "Batman versus mystery opponent" or "Batman versus opponent to be determined." I'm sitting here in a $17 seat with a $6 cup of Coca-Cola in my hand ready to see Batman take on the Penguin and it's actually the Riddler who's behind it all. The ringer might be okay if I knew who he was, but the film intentionally downplayed the Riddler so that it would come as a surprise when he was outed as the culprit.

It's an ambitious new approach, and I'll give them credit for that, but most twist revelations are dull for that very reason described. It's always the quiet butler or the friendly old man; the last character you'd suspect. Hell, it might even be Clock King just because nobody would guess that a dark horse like him would make it into a live action Batman movie.

Good point and well written - keeping the overrall history of movies has more to add to continuity/world building than the individual drawbacks of BvS etc
