Shares of Netflix (NFLX) fell more than 2% Tuesday after Needham analyst Laura Martin downgraded the stock to an "underperform" essentially a "sell" rating.
Martin said that if Netflix keeps its prices where they are currently in a range of $9 to $16 a month the company will lose 4 million subscribers in the United States next year.
Her solution: Offer an option that costs only about $5 to $7 a month and features an advertising block of about six to eight minutes an hour.

They better have an ad free tier or I will drop it outright. Fuck ads.

Six to eight minutes an hour is A LOT of advertising for a streaming service.

Maybe stop investing in every shitty show idea that someone comes up with would be a good start.

It's about what Hulu does for most of their shows. Three 90 second breaks for 22-24ish minute episodes.

As long as I can keep an adless service at the price ($0 lol) I'm paying I don't care tbh.

Also Netflix stock has been over valued since forever now lol

it looks to me like they are just adding a cheaper option that has ads. no one is realistically negatively affected by this.

Netflix's problem isn't pricing. It is there content being gutted by other companies removing catalogs and putting them on their own platforms.

Agreed. Then again, streaming rights for everything else have gotten a lot more expensive & Disney's taking all their stuff back (Fox stuff too) so they don't have a lot they can do.

All these streaming sites are going to be a mess for the next few years as they fight for the biggest market.
