Even if the house votes for impeachment, you need a 2/3rd majority from the senate afterwards. That will never happen...even if Trump shot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue.

The left is wasting their time and resources focusing on this. I agree that Trump should be impeached, because hes a fucking idiot. But the senate will never vote for it. The 2 party system is far too more important to America than doing the right thing. And thats a very sad fact.

Except the Senate doesn't vote on impeachment. The House does.

The Senate is responsible for holding the trial for the purpose of deciding if the president will be be removed from office.

Well yeah, the Senate is supposed to vote on the removal, which won't happen because the GOP may as well be Trump administration officials and will support their fearless leader above all else.

...but he'll be impeached by the House like Bill Clinton was.

No, it puts people on record on who was siding with Trump years after this is over so they can't go "Well I never supported him!"

And people will try to deny siding with him.

And if the left didn't impeach then the right just says "Well if you hated him so much, why didn't you impeach him? Checkmate!"

Not going for the impeachment is essentially tolerating his actions, which isn't the right move. It may not be politicaly convenient, but it's the right thing to do.

Someone has to give a shit about the country. Or at least convincingly pretend to.

And I can actually see this happening.

When these senators are campaigning for their re-elections, they'll pretend to act tough and deny history by saying "Oh yes, I stood up to Trump when needed and didn't always agree with him! I was very tough on Trump!" Then let the record show that you voted to acquit him after articles of impeachment were passed on him.

This is why I still think there's a sliver of a chance that the Senate could actually vote for removal. Even the dimmest Republican senator realizes that Trump is a sinking ship; they're just hoping to keep it afloat long enough to finish out his term(s), then they can put it behind them and downplay it later. But if enough senators realize just how much of a shitstain Trump is going to be on the party for decades to come, and come to the conclusion that losing the battle now is worth saving the party in the long run, then...

I'm not a fan of setting the precedent that the president can do whatever the fuck they want as long as they have 34 senators in their pocket.
