to make fun of the people there? People that record themselves and go to conventions and say stuff "I've never seen so many virgins in one room before" or talk about how much money/time they wasted on making cosplay or how the people there are dumb for knowing more about Anime than American history.

Yes, non-Anime fans actually go to cons. There's a few channels dedicated to non-comic/non-anime fans going to Japan and conventions and talking about how weird everything is. Or they go to maid cafes and other places that cater to Anime fans to talk about how creepy it is.
