53 percent of Republicans believe that Donald Trump is a better president than Abraham Lincoln, according to a new poll. The Economist and YouGov published results of its latest polling on U.S. politics this week. One poll gauged Trump's favorability versus Lincoln, who was the U.S. president between 1861 and 1865 and who steered America through the Civil War and abolished slavery. Asked "Which Republican president was better?", 53 percent of Republicans said Trump.

That is in stark contrast to respondents who identify as Democrats and independent. 94 percent of Democrats said Lincoln was the better president, as did 78 percent of independent voters.

Yeah theres a topic about this already on the Politics board and on CE

I'm honestly not as outraged as most people here seem to be that some people have different opinions to them.

Lincoln was openly racist and arguably abused his power while Trump stopped TTP, Defended democracy in Hong Kong, promoted the ideal of a space force and opposed animal cruelty

Democrats and Republicans who care about those things will prefer him to Lincoln.

It reached absurd proportions in the other topic where some guy was literally arguing that Trump has no involvement in his own bills or laws he signed so it's not fair to count them when comparing him to Lincoln

That's not really a quote about not liking black people.
That's a quote of a heavy weight, understood.
