If you haven't made enough progress in three years of ANY venture to be able to support you and your family from it then you probably need to reevaluate if the time and energy invested is worth it vs career progression you could have attained elsewhere in the same time.

By all means continue it on a smaller scale as a hobby, though.

Under those circumstances, yes. People who are successful as online personalities usually have a decent career beforehand, do it as a hobby or side job, THEN segue into being their main source of income.
