Star Wars always had cheesy dialogue. That's part of its charm. Look at Leia kissing Luke, saying "For luck!" Imagine how such a line would be perceived today.

The next day, I saw a topic about The Princess Bride and how it was the best movie ever despite that movie making itself with cheesy dialogue.

"Star Wars is about war and action, though."

So? It's an action adventure with comedy sprinkled. People are obsessed with dark and gritty stories nowadays. The Dark Knight is probably mostly to blame for that.

Look at Indiana Jones. "A boat!? We're not sinking, we're crashing!!! Aiiiieeee!!!!"
