It's perfectly fine. A lot of people leave butter out on a dish out on the counter for a week or two at a time, it's okay.

I am one of those people who leaves butter out on the counter in a butter dish, and I've lived to tell the story.

Seriously though, it's fucking butter lol. Unless you leave it in direct sunlight for 3 weeks straight, it's fine. Basically if it doesn't smell rancid, it's good to go. (And even if it were rancid you would still be fine, it might just taste a bit off)

Butter is almost all fat which is pretty resistant to spoilage. I'd be more worried about it drying out.

If it is real butter it is fine. Butter was a really big and important thing before refrigeration.

Yeah. I used butter that's been sitting out for a week on my toast an hour ago. And I've only had 2 crippling stomach cramps so far. It's fine

That's the best part. You just grab it and drink it with your bread.

You're fine up to a week at room temperature as long as it stays covered up and away from light. Butter can be kept at room temperature up to a month but only if kept in a butter crock or similar contraption.
