Changing angles is smoother and it also might wear down the base of the stick less

Has anybody ever played around with a rounded octagon? Where the lines are curved and the eight angles are not quite as sharp as in a normal octagon? Like a mix between octagon and circle.

That way you'd still get the subtle guidance of the octagon shape but it'd also be easier to make subtle adjustments between the angles thanks to the slight curves.
