Ive never seen the original versions of episode IV-VI so I have no basis for comparison, but regarding George Lucas updates:

1. Its funny that he made these updates to make the special effects look more modern and believable, when the obviously CGI bits from technology that didnt exist in 1977-1983 make it look SO much worse since it sticks out like a sore thumb in the same movie as the legit 1977-1983 effects. You naturally ask yourself Why doesnt everything look as good as that thing did?

2. One update I did appreciate and enjoy was adding Hayden Christensens force spirit to the end of Return Of The Jedi. Since I have seen episode I-III and didnt know he did that, I marked out at that part. Plus im okay with that change because it represents who Darth Vader was inside and the last time Anakin was truly himself.

3. Greedo shooting first was NOT a big deal and didnt change my image of Hans character at all. He was still just as badass. He was always an anti-hero in my book and transitioned into hero pretty naturally.

As far as the rest goes:

1. These movies were so much fun and I cant remember any of the other movies allowing themselves to be a light hearted good time that got serious when it needed to be. These felt like all ages films, where episode I-III felt all dark and serious like they were made for adult fans only.

2. Yeah the special effects REALLY dont hold up in 2019 even after the updates, but I need to remember that this shit was mindblowing in 1977-1983 and also a lot of things that seem cliche are because those cliches STARTED here and were copied/parodied by everyone else.

3. A New Hope starts off REALLY, REALLY slow and I almost lost interest in the whole endeavor. Also most of the character/story development didnt come until The Empire Strikes Back, so to me A New Hope is really a product of its time and only works as an entry in the overall series, it feels more like a proof of concept for the studios to allow Lucas to do more movies and tell the story he wanted to tell.

Overall I would say these are solid films and obviously a perfect groundwork for the fucking massive media franchise that followed in the next 40 years, some much better, some much worse. None of them are masterpieces, but they ARE iconic and an essential part of cinema history.

It suggests that he was never redeemed at the end of Jedi before he died, which is moronic.

It makes Han look like a moron is my issue. Any sort of nonsense Lucas believes that the character wouldnt or shouldnt kill someone before being shot at is irrelevant.

He literally gambles with his life that he can contort his body faster than the speed of light to avoid a laser. It's moronic.

I have trouble getting into ANH at first too. Even when I was a kid. It still had that cheap 1970s geek film to it.

I still think it works because his sprit represented him as his true self and his happiest peak essentially. He did redeem himself at the end of Jedi, but he was still a shell of his former self.

Vader kills millions of people with the death star + countless others by hand. He obviously wrestles between the light and dark, particularly in Legends materials, but it's hard to call him redeemed for just stopping the Emperor. Unpopular opinion of course. I don't think he should have a force ghost at the end.

It's the same reason I'm going to be disappointed when Kylo Ren probably will be "redeemed" in the next movie. So much bad was done that one act of good can't possibly make up for it.

Before the PT, it was accepted that all Jedi have the ability to become one with the force.

It was Tarkin who gave that order.
