I honestly think this will be one of those timeless shows that people can still enjoy well after it aired. As a black man at least, I find the self-deprecating humor to be hilarious. I mean most episodes are filled with black stereotypes or jokes and they still hit the mark, like Chappelle's Show

The Boondocks has comedy that's basically timeless. It's referential without being dated, because it focuses more on the why/how and not so much the what. And the why/how, as they present it, is hilarious.

it's not ahead of its time. it just touched on subjects that were unfamiliar to some demographics and they're just seeing the correlation to reality. but we've seen members of the Wayans family, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Griffin and others pull off nuanced subjects like this before. I'd say McGruder is cut from that cloth as far as social commentary goes
