If it's bright red, it's probably an anal fissure which isn't a big deal. If it's darker, that's a problem since it means it's from your digestive track. If it's an anal fissure, consume more fiber to loosen the stool.

Just go to the doctor if you are concerned. How much blood and what color it is is what determines if it is serious or not though
