I love the atmosphere and music, and the gameplay is pretty fluid and fun. The Switch port is awesome too, keeping a native 1080p and visually looking identical to the PS4 version.

I actually completely forgot about that game.

Like, I remember hearing about it before release and being super hyped, then I just entirely forgot about it and haven't actually played it.

I should get the Switch port.

I am Setsuna is a bunch of ideas that sound fantastic on paper but do not translate well to a finished product.

1. The music is a serene all piano score. No other instruments, not even drums. This sounds cool at first until you're 20 hours in and it starts sounding like your neighbors annoying kid is practicing piano all day and piping the sound directly to your ears.

2. The art is likewise also very monotonous, consisting of only three environments. Frozen tundra, ice caves, and grey blocky alien ruins.

3. They copied the Chrono trigger combat system but then didn't really do anything interesting with it. It's a clear cut case of people not understanding what made Chrono trigger great in the first place.

4. The loot kill system which is how you obtain basically all your upgrades is stupid as hell.

Lost Sphear is a dramatic improvement and I'd recommend skipping Setsuna in favor of this.

I liked it, but I really can't imagine it being one of your favorites unless you haven't played very many others. It has nothing that hasn't been done better elsewhere, nor does it bring those elements together in a way other games haven't done better.

Really depends on what you are looking for. If you liked I am Setsuna, then Chrono Trigger is a natural suggestion being the inspiration for Setsuna.

Switch version got a physical release in Japan, which is identical to the English version. I imported my copy from Japan when the Switch launched, was a god send because Switch had jack shit to play for the first year or so.

We have physical releases on Vita, PS4, and Switch in Japan. I don't recommend the Vita version. Bad performance.

Right, but I believe the Switch JPN version is the only one to have English on board isn't it?

I kinda want to play it, but i heard the soundtrack is 100% piano
dont get me wrong piano is my favourite instrument if played well but an entire soundtrack of literally nothing but piano doesn't sound too good

thats the only thing thats puit me off playing it

Nice! I have it too. Bought it when it launched and Amazon Japan got it to my house in two days, for free shipping no less. Was damn amazing.
