I had such fond memories of this game but now I'm not getting into as much as I thought I would be.

I recently played 1 and 2 again so I said fuck it and wanted to play 3.

Its definitely not the game I remember and some things make me look down on 4 about.

I started enjoying it a lot but ultimately it's even worse than NV with how the combat is.
NV had a few different styles of play. With Fallout 3 I felt like into using the gaus rifle for critial hits or the deathclaw gauntlet.
I still think Fallout 3 is a better open world game for sheer exploration in the subways and whatnot but the combat especially with higher level enemies are what kills it for me.
I tried twice in the past few months with very few mods just to make things a bit more tolerable and both times I just said "fuck it".
Combat is what makes it too annoying. Once you hit about level 10-11 everything is just a slog.
Aliens in Mothership Zeta get the shields, the point lookout enemies with the fucking rifle, the tri-beam laser rifles on enemies, everything is just "here's more damage, btw just spam stimpacks".

Which is a shame since I felt like it was either "chinese stealth suit + sneak attacks or stimpacks + tank" only worked.

Moira is still the best female character ever

Nah, after about 10 mins in those subways it got tiring. They are all pretty much the same

I've played Fallout 3 the first time for around 8 hours and so far it's so inferior to NV. In particular, the map design is nowhere near as good. The dialogues don't help either, with the protagonist locked into either naive manchild, smug prick or cynical asshole. I finished NV twice in quick succession, but I find it hard to go on with 3.

Someday I'll find the motivation to just finish the thing.
