The game was how do you say gifted to me because I wasn't going to support GameFreak on this one. <_<

Pros:
- Some great additions to the competitive scene in some of the new items and abilities
-Some great QoL features return such as PSS
-New QoL features like PC being accessible at any point, the move reminder/delete being free and in every center, and nature changing candies
-Exp farming through raids
-The starter cutscene is really lively

Cons:
- The Wild area is barren and flat. The idea of pokemon roaming around in the wild is great, but they're all just standing in an empty field. There's zero exploration. The Switch can handle BotW and Xenoblade 2, would it have been that difficult to throw in a cave or a mountain or have some underwater exploration?
-The campaign is non-stop handholding. I'm not sure when it happened, but at some point Masuda decided kids couldn't handle freedom and needed the game fed to them. Every other minute was Hop or Sonia telling you and in some cases leading you to the next location
-The story is all over the place, including off-screen. Story has never been the series strong point but this one is all over the place. The first third is focused on you and Hop becoming trainers and Sonia investigating Dynamax while Team Yell shows up as an obstacle. The second third of the game the story starts to pick up only to immediately sideline you while Leon takes care of the problem off-screen, the last third is a continuation of the second third but you weren't there for any of it so it's all forced. The villain motivation was also the dumbest in the series history and was only there so you had a bad guy to beat. It really felt like they cut the story short and then remembered at the last minute there wasn't a conclusion.
-Loss of megas and Z-Moves for something less interesting design wise and more broken gameplay wise. Dynamax is extremely broken, megas and Z-Moves had checks and counters, Dynamax is three turns of a walking nuke with after effects and a free item slot. Dynamax fails at everything it was supposed to prevent.
-Lack of features from Let's Go. The game is built on a fork of the Let's Go engine yet lacks following pokemon, and even things as small as petting
-The animations range from laughable to pathetic outside the signature moves of the starters. The box legendary should not be moonwalking to make a 180 turn
-The dex cut. There have been so many reasons given for this, and one by one they're exposed to be a lie. It would have been one thing of the animations were actually amazing or if the game was actually balanced, or if the models really were new, but instead it's just puzzling. Most of all is the omission of the full Kanto pokedex, even if by some reason they actually did need to redo the models and animations, the Kanto dex was done due to Let's Go yet only a fraction appear

It honestly feels like a 3DS game that got ported last minute to the Switch.

It is a 3ds ported in the last minute lol

They were going to port all the pokemon in the game but their importer fucked up so they had to scramble remaking the pokemon in the game, they didn't have enough time to put in all the Pokemon which is why we got so many cuts in the first place. The importer messing up is why the rest of the game looks so unpolished. Most of their development time went into remaking the pokemon again so they didn't have much time to spend on other areas. Fucking sad

I've read that rumor, but I don't think it has enough evidence either way.
