While I was shitposting in that Devin Nunes topic, I came to the realization that my heart just isn't in it anymore. All the insults, the snark, the quips, the partisanship. I'm tired of it, and I don't want to contribute to it anymore.

Effective immediately, I am retiring from any and all political arguments.

What this means:

1.) I will no longer take part in any arguments pertaining to politics, partisanship, most social issues, healthcare, or the economy.

2.) I will never disparage or discourage transgender individuals again. This is something I have thought a lot about, and it's a major contributing factor to why I'm making this decision. I have passionate opinions, and I can be viciously stubborn. During some arguments about this subject, I have said things that have hurt a lot of feelings. I don't want to be known for that. I know it doesn't mean much just to say it, but I am sorry. Trans people deserve respect. Trans people are valid. Trans women are real women, and trans men are real men.

I realize it's not my place to speak for other people, nor is it okay to deliberately bring them down for being who they are. To that end, I am formally apologizing for my remarks in the past about this subject. If you'd like to chew me out some, that's understandable. I won't argue back this time.

3.) I will stop using "democrat," "liberal," "the left," or their like, as insults meant to demean or belittle people here. It's not fair, and it contributes nothing to the discussion.

What this DOES NOT mean:

1.) I'm not going to stop shitposting about other topics. Get me started about anime, Star Wars, etc., at your own risk.

2.) I'm not changing my overall political views. I'm still for Trump, and he still has my vote for 2020. I'm just sick to death of arguing about it for no reason.

3.) I'm not going to stop writing Naruto Fanfiction, so don't even kid yourself.

Please ASK ME ANYTHING, with the understanding that I'm not going to argue about politics in here.

If you'll accept some credit, you're one of the people I was thinking about while typing this up. Most of the people who I legitimately like around here are people whose politics conflict with mine. When I start spitting out political bullshit, that puts colors into every interaction I have with the people who see it.

When I look at myself, the biggest thing I regret is being so boldly partisan around people who I should be making friends with.

On one hand, you shouldn't feel withheld from expression political opinions, but on the other, CE is like the worst place to do it. Like if batzaro came here instead of the anime board, I'd just call him a sack of russet potatoes.

I don't feel like I'm censoring myself, really. This is a decision I've been weighing for months now. It's not for the good of the board, or anything like that. It's for my own sanity.

Like that xkcd comic about winning The Game. It gave me permission not to react to the stimulus of losing the game. This is kind of like that. Now that this post has been made, I feel like I have been freed from rising to every single political topic ever made.

My problem is my pride. I can never let somebody else have the last word over me. There are times I've exited the discussion, but rode straight back in just because someone called me out for something. I knew the right move was to stay gone, but my stupid primal monkey brain demands victory or death.
