Ive been amazed by how fast the CGI team has managed to make the necessary changes for the Sonic movie. Remember, it was only this year that they revealed the original trailer.

And so here we are, months later, and we have a new Sonic. I am also astounded by the level of detail in this new version. It is highlighted perfectly in this video:

Was the first design bad?
I dont know. Its subjective. I liked the realism. Nevertheless, the backlash always seemed manufactured to me. Didnt seem organic. Even the attention the backlash got seemed synthetic.

We all know that theres no such thing as bad publicity.

My point? It was all a stunt from the start. The original Sonic trailer wasnt going to be the final result from the start. They only did it to stir the poop and bring more attention to a video game character who, lets face it, hasnt really been relevant. Last time we spoke about Sonic was when he joined SSBB, and before that the 90s.

I find that extremely hard to believe. That is a LOT of time and money to spend on a "fake" trailer, just on the hopes that people will like the "new" look enough to support the movie. You'd still probably lose more potential customers who were so turned off from the original trailer that they wouldn't want to touch it anyway. Not to mention, if the movie itself is bad, a lot of people will avoid it due to bad reviews.
