To my surprise he has the same philosophy as I'am with my project! Though I wouldn't have gone with the chibi character design.

The game definitely looks weak on some parts, but the lighting and shadow effects is pretty good.

I can agree on that. But decent graphics and lighting isn't going to make me play it. Also I think episodic was a mistake.
