They're doing it to try and combat the subscriber losses they'll get, and since everyone else is doing one episode a week, they want to try and hold onto them. Especially if people can just sub for a week, binge a show, and then unsub, they don't want that. Tbqh I think a lot of their shows start as movie scripts no studio would buy, so netflix buys them and turns them into shows.
