James was always a movie maker first and foremost, and since he's kinda saddled with the AVGN gimmick for life (for better, or worse) the best he can do is add movie-esque qualities to each episode.

This is why I think it's unfair to expect people to stay one thing for a decade. People change, they need to change what they do as well to stay comfortable. People who try to hold onto something they no longer feel for the same end up really sad. No matter how much I love someones work, I will always understand if they want to move on. We don't own their characters, they do. They can do whatever they want with them

He has some good production stuff, though. I think my favorite is the one where he clones three of himself for the Nightmare On Elm Street ep, and they're all just talking shit about it at the same time. Pretty classic.

This. He's already exhausted the bad games he played as a kid, so now he's just phoning it in with bad (or mediocre) games that people suggest to him.

He was always a movie guy first. Avgn is the only thing making money for him so he ties his movie making into it because he is kind of pigeon holed in it at this point.

I dont like James and Mike Mondays. He just doesnt have the energy or knack for improvisation that the Game Grumps have. James and Mike come across as bored, doing a job they have to do, not playing games for fun. Arin and Dan may have lost the enthusiasm that they had years ago too, but they can still show it, or at least fake it.
