On the other hand, I'm baffled at how high people have set their expectations for Sword and Shield, given GameFreak's track record.

I mean, the people who were expecting a BotW treatment of Pokemon yeah.

But expecting them to at least have more Pokemon in them than a DS game from 2006 isn't terribly high.

The only way it was going to happen is if the game stopped being yearly. But that wouldn't make financial sense, as they make too much money every year because you silly geese keep buying a game that doesn't change in any meaningful fashion besides the amount of pokemon in the dex

they literally made models of every pokemon last gen to future-proof the series.

That's only if they cut out all the useless pokemon. But they've instead cut out more than 80% of the top tier Pokemon and put a lot of really pointless Pokemon, some now without megas, in the game lol.

The top tier Pokemon like Luvdisc and Unown

Though Pokemon is mainly for kids I admit the battles in them are way too easy, I think they should start thinking about difficulty levels in Pokemon.

They did this in BW2 actually (though in a kinda dumb way).

Yep. Great idea, terrible execution.

Hard mode was in Black 2.
Easy mode was in White 2.
Both were unlocked only after beating the game.
You had to trade Keys with the other version that already had them unlocked to get the other mode (though doing this lets you use it without beating the game).

i was gonna buy it day one, but now ill wait for reviews.

usually i like the journey of the pokemon games, so an end game isnt THAT important to me. but if the main game sucks ill pass.

or ill just play sun and moon, since i bought it and never played it.
