I have a pretty decent sum of money tucked away in a savings account/invested

I regularly have several thousand dollars on hand in my chequeing account for general use for shit like rent, groceries, going out, fun, emergencies, etc.

I have a stable decent job, I drive a decent car, my rent isn't particularly high, yet I struggle to come to grips with spending money

I wanna build a new PC in a few weeks. My current one is nearly 5 years old. Yet I keep getting anxious about spending that kinda money. I keep trying to talk myself out of it.

I guess it's not bad since this kinda behavior makes me pretty decent with money but I hate it at the same time.

I'm the same. Spending money brings me no joy, it just makes me anxious, even though I have a lot saved. Material items bring me no joy.

Are you still enjoying yourself without spending more money? Cuz that means youre spending the right amount of money already.

Was in the same boat about 2 years ago. Rationalized my up to date PC by realizing I'll spend less money on other dumb stuff if I have this to toy around with. Imo it was actually an investment; rather than spend ~$50 on a Saturday drinking with friends I could play a game that I already owned. In the end you can't take it with you and what's the point of working if you can't use the money for fun.

I've been slowly turning into that. Mostly because I've recently been buying games only to learn I hate them.

Might also have something to do with the fact I'm hoping to move.

Well if you have a good sense of financial responsibility and stability (which it sounds like you do) then dont feel songuikty about treating yourself. After all, we cant this cash with us once we hit the grave

Sounds like you were raised poor, and know the value of money.
That is not a bad trait to have.
Having said that, you really should treat yourself to something nice once in a while.

Is that a major thing? The original idea was to buy parts on black friday but do you think I'd be served better by waiting?

I like to think I have a pretty healthy social life. Go out with friends few times a week and I'll drop money on dates and stuff.

I spent several years traveling fairly often for work and junk so I got burned out on that

None of my other hobbies are pricey though or there's not a continuing cost to them really.

Well thank ya. Yeah I wasn't like dirt poor but we were sometimes precarious. Always had the "spend responsibly" and "reuse/thrifty" mentality hammered in.

It really depends on if the leaked info is correct. If it is they'll cost around the same as 2080s and be a significant upgrade. Personally I'll be getting a TI regardless and I doubt those will get a heavy discount on black friday so I'm waiting but it depends on what kind of card you're looking for
