The game looks thoroughly underwhelming when compared to other AAA Nintendo games from smaller franchises.

If you are going to cite the burdensome task of updating all the Pokemon to new graphics as the reason they needed to be cut, then the game should look far closer to BotW or Odyssey than Sun & Moon.

Game Freaks' excuse of being a small developer is nonsense. Hire more people.

Nothing. I probably won't get the game because I don't have time and haven't played Pokemon in a long time, but I think the game looks cool.

Regarding the upscaled 3DS thing, I didn't expect anything different. Fire Emblem Three Houses also looks like an upscaled 3DS game and no one complains. People give it a pass because it's a smaller franchise but I don't gaf about the amount of available resources. They both look fine to me.

IMO, the one and only thing that offset the franchise's failure to innovate is that the games were upward-connected and ever-expanding collect-a-thons, and not a single 'mon was ever phased out or went out of style.

3houses has games+ , voices actors, 3 branching path of sories in one game to make up with the "upscaled 3ds". Pokemon still had single save file games and no games+, no voice actors, the same gotta be champion storyline that has been recycled since gen 1.

The same thing that's bothered me the last several games, it's the same bland formula. They need to try some new stuff.

The butchering of the Pokedex and the fact that the game looks like shit are bad, but ultimately they're irrelevant. It's the lack of innovation that's made me lose my interest in Pokemon. And whenever they have added some new great features, they removed them just as quickly.

Because Showdown exists, my only interest in Pokemon is for the single player, and the single player part of the Pokemon games peaked in Gen 5. It's been donwhill ever since.

I think if TPC relaxed their tight grip over the franchise it could maybe thrive again. Perhaps the main games need a new developer too.

Besides the dexit easy answer it feels like theyre trying to do too many gimmicks like Gigamax, Dynamax raid battles, curry, camping etc. when they could be improving and building on Mega evolutions or Poke-amie which were already good enough mechanics that could really be polished beyond a single gen rather than disposing of them entirely. Also, from the quick scan I gave the leaked returning Pokemon list it seems theres only 2-3 more galarian formes than the ones already shown which is way too little imo.
