Not because I don't like his humour -- which I don't -- but because he's totally right on so many of these videos, and it makes me sad to think movies I loved as a kid really are so flawed.

I totally never realized how bad the acting was in Home Alone 2, or how dumb the whole bird lady concept was.
I also never realized how poorly written Ghostbusters 2 is -- even though I think the concept is way fucking cooler than Ghostbusters 1, and I love the Carpathian and the slime.
I also LOVED Milk Money as a kid - and never realized how fucked up it probably was to most people, even though I totally would've been those kids.

I know - I agree, but I always thought Home Alone 2 and Ghostbusters 2 were both better than the originals in every way. Now I realize they're not better in any way, they're both just cooler concepts and I have nostalgia for them

He also made me realize how bad the blue screen is, and how out of place this scene is in Labyrinth. I also never realized so many people hated this scene/song - especially considering it was my favorite scene/song as a kid, lol.

I like Doug. Even if he thinks a movie is shit he will always give a pretty good take that shows he does understand why someone would like the movie.

His humor is really hit or miss for me, but oh well.

Even if I hate his humour and I disagree with him on a lot of things (like I personally think the practical effects/costuming is great in Garbage Pail Kids, for example) -- he definitely has an understanding of film, and he definitely seems like a likable guy

I've actually liked some of his reviews. But yeah he's pretty clearly gone downhill, and his moderately recent review of The Wall the movie is possibly one of the worst things on the internet.

But I've liked some of his skit-based reviews, like his review of Mad Max was not that bad, his Phantom of the Opera thing was somewhat competent though terrible as a review.

It's easy to poke holes into his style though because it's just so flawed. Like he always takes the middle of the road, non-offensive approach to any movies that have a dissenting opinion amongst the masses, and most of his messages are like "it's flawed, but I still love it." Like no shit. Also he plays strawman far too often, like he would say something and then create some overly exaggerated representation of the internet and refute a really simplified and poorly justified argument from the strawman. Everybody is also written as if they agree with everything he says, even if they disagree. It's pretty bizarre.

I also quite like Malcolm and Tamara. I know Tamara has some haters because she is a bit of a feminist beneath the comical exterior. Malcolm has mostly been harmless and entertaining, though people call him out for being the token black guy. I don't see a problem with it tbh cuz most elaborate youtube productions are either all white or all black

Will I understand it -- not being a Pink Floyd fan and having never seen The Wall?

I think a love of the album The Wall heavily accentuates one's hatred for NC's The Wall review. But just watching it, you'll just think it's really annoying and a bit too in your face.

But I actually think Doug is a pretty decent singer. So at least it's not off-key or anything
