Did today's workout in an indoor track, fastest mile today was 4:48.

Edit: But now that I think about it, I can definitely go faster. The track was 200 m, 3 lanes, the corners were particularly rough and I had to slow myself down considerably to hit them. Gonna find a straight mile somewhere out there and report back. I know I can do a mile in under 4:30, maybe even right at 4:20. I was besting 4:50s - :40s in high school and I'm considerably better now.

I doubt I even can. I walk for exercise, and when I try to run, I'm lucky if I can go 300 feet before getting winded. Probably due to my valve stenosis.

Probably like 5 and a half minutes now. Used to run in hs and I still do now but I'm more focused on lifting than cardio.

I saw a ridiculous, almost instantaneous improvement in my running right around the time I started lifting. Jogging, not even running but JOGGING, I was averaging 8:40 and not even a week later I was hitting 7:50 with what felt like less effort. Don't give up just yet.

Bro when you reach sub-5 minutes/mile you're pretty much splitting hairs because that's how negligible any sort of improvement will be. I doubt I'll even hit a sub-4 in the next two years.

Going from 10 to 9 to 8 to 7 to 6 minute miles is something that can be done in, I honestly believe, two years. Once you start hitting sub-5, you're doing months of training just to cut off a couple seconds. Improvements become less and less pronounced.
