I visited the in laws, who are red blooded hunting, cabin living, mountain folk. FIL and I watched Fox News pretty much the whole day one day. I don't have a TV and purposely avoid the news, only reading important stories weeks or months later.

Now I'm not political, and I think both liberals and conservatives are more similar than people think, and that both sides make great points and terrible points

Pros:

From what I could tell, they had excellent financial coverage. I felt well informed, they spoke clearly and concisely and calmly and made logical steps of how real world events could and have impacted the market.

Some shows had democratic guests and although they framed them as "the opposing point of view" they didn't degrade them, and they both spoke about how they could work together

Cons:

My god the shouting. "BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT CHEESE CURDS?! ARE THE CHEESE MARKETS GOING TO BE IMPACTED??!!" doesn't matter the subject. Is this to make everything appear urgent?

Hoolly crap at the blatant propaganda of many shows. The australian guy and the old guy especially (Dobbs?). "Now we turn our attention to the RADICAL DEMS AND THEIR ATTACK ON DEMOCRACY". They unironically had an entire segment on whether it's possible to be a SOCIALIST (which they always said with a disgusted look on their face) and a Christian. This is American news? They seriously fucking talk for 60 minutes about whether it's possible to be a christian and a socialist? The guest, the white house spiritual adviser even said "The Bible is unashamedly PRO-DEMOCRACY and PRO-FREE MARKET. Just look at Jesus." Direct quote there... just look at jesus. Didn't back it up with anything, they act like there's just too much news for facts to be presented after statements and need to move on.

Their total obsession with socialism. They covered Venezuela for a really long time, and the only point was "This country is socialist and look how THEY FAILED CAUSE OF HANDOUTS!!". Uh, Sweden? Norway? New Zealand? Iceland? Canada?

In the same breath as "RADICAL DEMS" , they would talk about the conservative quest to save medicare. Isn't Medicare a SOCIALIST program??

They had more buzz words I had no idea existed outside of extreme subreddits, like the "deep state". The whole thing was like listening to Grandpa rant and rave about immigrants even though he'd never left North Dakota before.

Funny Things I Noticed:

The commercials are all targeted towards old people. Like ALL of them. In fact, the entire news station seems to be pandering to old people. Millenials suck. We must protect medicare. Old time values. Fear of the non-religious (they also had a whole section on the travesty that 25% of Americans declare "no religion")

In conclusion, it was a silly day and I don't think that Fox represents american conservatives, it's just a straight up propaganda machine to keep old people afraid, and at best it's a sounding board so you can reinforce your own beliefs and never challenge yourself. It's also entertaining in a weird way.

I assume there is a liberal mirror of this too. CNN? Damn shame how the news sucks. Good thing the internet exists.

Ya, I used to listen to Conservative talk radio for the wtf value.
But it just got old. I mean, way back in the day. Anyway, if I tune it today, it's the same dam show.
And I don't mean same show, I mean, same episode.

Also, Sean Hannity, the official Conservative man for the Conservative woman, has become a master at wasting time on his radio show.
I would be surprised if he even talks for more than 45 min, on his 4 hour show.

Listen to a segment from Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson. Hannity is basically off the walls completely batshit insane on TV, I'm talking conspiracy wall with multiple pins and red lines deep state globalism socialism liberals crazy. Best part is Hannity is playing an act, it's gotta be hilarious coming up with all that material.

That's an interesting point, I bet a lot of them are acting. They do basically just say the same things over and over

Ive watched it for an entire day as well, its all garbage. Its an insult to CNN to compare them to fox news. Its pure right wing propaganda, alot of false narratives and clickbait titles to get people riled up. Its nothing more than trash.

I remember seeing Fox News on at a diner like a year ago.

They did a whole segment on Hillary Clinton for no discernible reason even though she hadn't been relevant in politics for like two years at that point. The entire segment was basically "HERE'S WHY THE COUNTRY WOULD BE ON FIRE AND EVERYONE WOULD BE DEAD IF HILLARY HAD WON!"

24/7 news channels have nothing to really talk about most the time. So just making up stories and TV shows is how they get ratings.

The only time a 24/7 news network is useful is a World War or 9/11 or something

I turned on Fox News after work yesterday. They had a segment discussing the Benghazi cover up. I didn't realize that was still being investigated. It was eye opening.
