I was too young in the 80's to understand rpg's. though I remember my brother playing one of the Might and Magic games. But for people like in high school in the 80's with a good computer, and liking rpg's, that must have been one hell of a decade. it seems like every other game on computers back then was an rpg

yeah man RPGs in the late 80s and 90s were lit

that's when Fallout came out, and Baldur's Gate which established Bioware, not to mention the Elder Scrolls

80s RPGs are too archaic for my taste. Oldest RPG Ive actually beaten was Champions of Krynn (1990)

90s had a lot more iconic titles that still hold up today

i'm 38. I was around in the 80's but I didn't understand how to play an rpg until the mid to late 90's

I'm actually looking into ways to play some old games. I was thinking of trying to go through series like Might and Magic, Ultima and Wizardy among others, if possible.

I think some of them are on GoG

GOG have a few yeah. There was that big DOS release that probably has a few too.

Some have since been remade or have spiritual successors too. The Bard's Trilogy for example. That one is on Game Pass.

The original of course was Wizardry. I also played questron on the apple II e. Then of course there was Ultima III. I lost many days to playing that.

More into the 90s, but it was good and bad. There were awesome, amazing games, but you needed a good computer to play everything well, and this was back when good computers were fucking expensive. Then 3D accelerator cards came out, and you were fucked if you picked the wrong one of those...

For some reason I always feel that wasn't that long ago, but I was 9. Lol.
I didn't play it until I was 15 o 16 though
