Shes very bright and mature for her age and she says her friends are very reliable, but you have doubts...

I don't see any winning here, lol. Whenever I think about having kids (especially a girl) it's like nightmare fuel.

If you're always telling her no and trying to control her life, you'll have a shit relationship with her that may last forever.

If you let her go, you do so knowing there's more than likely going to be drugs and alcohol, casual sex, the whole shebang. You'll get points with her, but you have to trust that she's going to make good decisions (be aware of what she's taking, stick close to people she trusts, don't get in a car with a drunk driver, use condoms for sex, etc). I think you'd worry about them a lot.

Well my eldest younger sister goes to concerts a lot with her friends and my mom is worried sometimes. I wanted to know how CE would handle it just at an age where you are still her guardian.

I think both of those are wild misrepresentations of what is really going on.

Probably not, because I'm paranoid as fuck.

But I also wouldn't want to restrict my daughter forever. 16 is that age where you really want to prove your independence.

If she could prove that she'd be safe, maybe.

Um, shes a wild alcheholic. But she doesnt do drugs or participate in orgies. She only has one man, who cheats all the time.

I did that when I was that age-- of course, I'm just talking about a short road trip & would be back before dawn. Big difference if she's going to be staying the night somewhere.

I'd worry a lot but allow it.

yes i would.
hopefully she listened to my sermons of consequences, not out of fear but from an understanding. if i ever have a daughter, i hope i raised her with enough common sense and situational awareness to never fully lose control of herself where she ends up doing things she doesnt want to do.

i know she wont be able to understand without experiencing it herself - drugs, sex, alcohol. i know the world will eventually test her with or without me & i just hope she will always be in position where nobody ever takes advantage of her.

And then when she's 18 she does it anyway. Why hold her back and make her distrust you, why prevent her from experiencing things while she's young?

Thats fine. I should just let her fuck anyone at 15-16. Why wait? Because when she fucks up it was against my judgment and if your so set to do whatever you can at 18.

You don't seem like the kind of person who wants to have an honest talk. You'd hold a position of power for the sake of having said power, not willing to negotiate. You'd make a bad parent. It's the pitfall of most parents, actually.

"You wont let your daughter go out of state for a concert cause youre worried about her safety. Youre a bad parent."

Shut the fuck up.

Shut the fuck up.

You can teach them how to be prepared. Where to go when feeling unsafe, how to avoid getting into strange predicaments, etc. It's not like we're all suddenly dealing with a random 16 y/o, this is someone we're assumed to have been parenting from the very beginning. Repressing your kid because you're afraid does not do you two any favors.

The answers no. Nobodies on a video game sites social board wouldnt make me even begin to consider my decision.

When shes 18 and she wants to fuck off thats her prerogative.

Again, you're not trying to discuss it like a civil person. You even acknowledged it when you said at the arbitrary age of 18 she can do what she wants and that she likely would. I really hope you don't have any kids, they won't have many stories to tell, experiences to share, they'll be fairly sheltered.

This is so stupid its hard to respond. Please have children. You sound like you already know what to do.

You're one to talk. Basically locking a child up until 18. Yeah she'll turn out real well

I'd say the opposite tbh. Too many parents "negotiate" with their kids and they end up becoming spoiled brats, and then annoying entitled adults.
