Why are you guys arguing about Horizon?

He insist that as a 25-30 hour game (plus more for completionist obviously), outer wilds is short. I pointed out several story driven single player games in the 20 hour or so range that are goty material, including horizon. He seems unable to comprehend that the game is indeed around 20 hours to beat for normal people because normal people don't do everything in a game like doing all the sidequests or collecting everything. Trophy data alone proves this. 100% trophy is comparatively high yes but it's still only at 6.4 percent.

Been playing it. Pretty fun. Pretty much with all the goodness of new vegas

Sadly, the bad also kinda carry over but it's tolerable for the most part. The usual gamebryo like jank (even if its different engine)

My main complain is i guess it have the exact same problem as bethesda clfallout combat. Some regular goons need a whole clip to die. Melee attackers stupidly charge in a straight line to my shotgun etc.

I have seen gunners taking cover and making distance if i get close, so at least the AI is better than new vegas.

But otherwise its fun. The dialogue is fun, and the quest have multiple solutions as per usual. The shooting itself isnt bad really, but they make it too faithful to gamebryo games.

I'm noticing it depends on weapon. Melee tank builds are apparently OP as fuck but I wanna do guns. I've found so far that ballistic pistols tend to be complete shit and a last resort at best. Ballistic rifles like the Assault rifle make short work of humans. Plasma weapons make short work of animals.

So far it seems that way anyway.

I played about an hour of it last night. It's cool, I like the theme of the game and such so far.

It hasn't grabbed me yet gameplay wise which is what I felt with Fallout 3 and 4. I just think this style of game isn't my thing.

Put it on story difficulty and just focus on the story. That's entirely viable in this game. If you can find that fun that is.

game keeps freezing and crashing for me on last mission, guess i'm done anyway since theres no post game or new game plus, oh well. Glad I got it for free though with my game pass ultimate subscription or i might have been pissed. Back to my PS4 it is!

Got my whole squad in heavy armor. Why? Because I fucking can. So many games put armor restrictions on certain class types and stuff.

My guy is a smooth talking scientist with a love of long guns. I'm rolling with Parvati because she's just great and setting her up with her romantic interest as part of the quest is cute lol, plus, she rolls with a heavy machine gun and a big ass hammer. Also rolling with ellie, a doctor in full heavy armor.

If it's what happened to me, where you unlock the door to the Chairman with the computer and then the game crashes upon trying to enter the door there's two workarounds:

Fastest way is to just kill the Chairman before entering. He has a bit of health and a couple mechanicals with him but goes down easy. Proceed to finish the remaining bits and roll credits.

Second way is still very easy, and it allows you to talk to the Chairman and pass some speech checks/make additional story choices. Unlock the door with the computer but then reverse and go back to the big room with the circular platform. This part's hard to explain but you'll be able to see a door that you can't get to because it's walled off. You can jump up on some boxes, then to another box, then sprint jump over the wall to get to the door. Going in that way worked for me.

I was pissed because I put a decent amount of time into the game, did all available side quests afaik, then I can't even complete the damn thing? Ending is worth checking out though imo, you only need to play a few more minutes and it's a comprehensive ending that details all the events that took place after depending on the choices you made and what became of your companions and such. I think there's a lot of potential for variety there on future playthroughs.
