I color mine every six months.

But I can only use medium dark brown or just dark brown.

I look too weird with a darker color and any lighter it looks reddish.

Might let a pro do it someday so I can get my brown with gold highlights back like when I was younger.

Yeah red is apparently a pain to get out. I still have reddish hints to mine but i bought some blue shampoo that's supposed to help. I'd get maybe a consultation with someone if you really want to go lighter without being red; i did mine kind of on a whim because i'm not picky with my hair

I actually had blonde hair as a kiddo. Maybe that's why it works well for me, iunno. I'm happy with it though!

If your hair pulls red when you lighten it, you need to pick colors that say ash, and depending on how light you go, could need toning with blue or blue-violet toner. Can try those tips before going to the salon if you want :)

She did a really good job toning the red, Im surprised! The blue shampoo is gonna be a great aid, but if you notice your hair looking a little more red or less bright in a few weeks you can just tone it at home, unfortunately they dont Always last as long going from dark to light the first time. HMU if it happens and I can offer suggestions :)

I get my hair done probably about once a month by which I mean I use my broken-ass trimmer on it that somehow manages to still work in spite of the cutting attachments going in crooked because some little plastic piece that was only a few millimeters long having snapped off at one point >_>

Do the birds react to it when you change the color? Curious because my cousin/co-worker's dog really likes the Post Office guy and is all over him and runs up every time he shows up... but if he takes his hat off, she flips out and starts barking at him like he's a complete stranger lol. I've never seen a pet have such adverse reactions to appearance changes.

And I don't know how I manage to get it even or even enough so that I can't tell whether or not it's even. Sometimes I'll look in the mirror the next day and be like "oops I fucked up" and then I'll fix it but so far I've never had to correct it in a way that meant going shorter than I wanted anywhere. Then again I wear a hat most of the time so it just kinda all mats down. I like it better that way. Makes things easier.
