The op says in a joking way. So I don't think the situation is making comments about like how the holocaust never happened. But more like a friend joking about me being jewish because of how I spend money/am frugal or something.

I used to have this very, very racist friend who talked shit all the time about non-whites. He knew I disagreed with every single word he said. He also knew I respected him for having the balls to keep doing so at our place of work that was at least 30% Arabic.
I'll never forget when he met my best friend Abdllah. As he introduced himself, he turned to me and said "I wasn't expecting a normal dude". Abdllah and I shared a good laugh over that on our drive home.
