BUT for Hong Kong to ask(or in this case, demand) for independence they are not going to be as successful as Singapore with Malaysia. No, it is not just that China will strong arm Hong Kong into being another Chinese city, it is that Hong Kong still really rely on the resources, mostly water and electricity, that come from the Mainland as well as military because Hong Kong doesn't have its own military. Plus they are situated on a very powerful strategic trading spot for the sake of their economy. Nah Hong Kong would be totally fine on its own. That's why millions of people have been protesting there for independence. They have an extremely strong economy and will be more than capable of being self sufficient. Especially when trading with other nations. China is descending into an Orwellian nightmare. Literally organ harvesting going on right now. --- Do good. I can safely say that this going to screw up China in more ways than one: China relies on Hong Kong to establish "working relationships" with Western countries because who the hell wants to deal with companies connected to the CCP, and also this whole protest thing is going to SEVERELY damage China's reputation when China has been working diligently to become a standing powerhouse in the eyes of the world, even more so than the sanctions. No it doesn't, Hong Kong's economic importance to China shrinks with each passing year. Cities like Shanghai and Shenzhen have overtaken Hong Kong in importance. There was a time when Hong Kong made up nearly a third of Chinese GDP, but that was decades ago.
