I'd say...Halo 3. Great campaign, very long-lasting, multiplayer was a lot of fun, finished the main plot well, and the graphics were excellent.

It's a difficult choice between Halo 2 and 3. I think if you just look at the gameplay alone, Halo 2 was probably the better game. Halo 3 had some hit registration issues, mixed opinions on equipment, and the really bad FOV. But most of those are things we didn't really recognize at the time.

Halo 3's campaign is so replayable though. Excellent for co-op and very fair on Legendary difficulty.

Reach came out during the best months of my life so I have a soft spot for it.

But ignoring that, I'd go with 3.

I preferred Halo 2 multiplayer just a tad bit more than Halo 3, but the Halo 3 campaign was just so well done, I have to go with Halo 3

Totally agreed if we're talking campaign but IMO 5's multiplayer is a solid third place behind 3 and 2.

To give some credit to Halo 4, at least the game was a complete product at launch for the most part, with the exception of Spartan Ops. Halo 5's multiplayer needed a bit of time to actually get good. Forge didn't come till later after all, but once it did, it was a massive improvement. I was fortunate enough to get Halo 5 later than the launch date, so it was just starting to get into its stride with free content updates.

i was just thinking of campaigns, it's kind of hard to compare multiplayer because of how online gaming changed from CE to 5

Reach was the start of the decline, and 4 killed it.

5 multi is fun, but its not Halo

Halo 3 for me but I do like Reachs MP just a tad bit more. 3 came out when I was in college and its some small miracle I got a degree. Id legit wake up a 4am for wrestling, go to class, go back to practice at 2 and then play Halo 3 with my roommates and friends back home till whateverOclock.

Edit: it makes me sad because these events don't happen anymore due to the amazing convenience of digital downloads. I went to the Reach launch and it was pretty much exactly like this video.
