Last week I heard "The experts were wrong, it's better to eat two big meals and fast than to eat a bunch of small meals throughout the day."

Which, I kinda do. I tend to eat 3 meals but then fast for about 16 hours unless I get hungry, then I eat *shrug*

It's worked out okay for me, I've lost like 80 pounds. I think everyone is different and you just need to find out what works for you. There really are no shortcuts.

It really is calories in = calories out. But people don't ACTUALLY count the calories, it's all estimates. They eat their "suggested serving size of 6 tater tots (86g)" that is 175 calories and then log it as 150 because even numbers are better. Then they go weigh themselves and wonder why they weigh more next time they weigh themselves. When you eat "six" tater tots, you aren't eating 86 g. If you weighed it out you could be eating 160g of tater tots despite having 6 heavy ones. 160 g of tater tots is 350 calories despite you eating 6 tater tots. OR You eat 6 tater tots and they weighed 40 grams you log it as 175 but later on you're feeling hungry so you go overboard or not and you suffer feeling hungry despite logging 175 calories the latter is better in the long run but makes you feel miserable and more likely to not log calories, and the first case...well you're fucking yourself over.

It does work, but the common thought is "AIN'T NO ONE GOT TIME TO WEIGH EVERY SINGLE THING YOU ATE." In which case, fine go have the time to be a fat fuck. If you're honest and diligent about your diet you will lose weight by counting calories and being under. But most will want to go the way of eating those 6 tater tots or eating "1 hamburger = 600 calories" lol. Then get surprised when it doesn't work and then say calories in = calories out is a fraud. It is, you just aren't counting right.

How much you intake vs how much you burn (base metabolism + exercise) is really the crux of weight management. I think the rare case of thyroid gland issues is what bypasses this, but even then I imagine exactly controlling what you put in will lead to results in the long run.

Oh yeah and if you want to cheat weight through unhealthy means there's tons of ways that are guaranteed to work. You could become bulimic, that works at the cost of your teeth and esophagus. You could use amphetamines that works too, suppress your appetite, but then you're just using drugs and suffering the consequences of that to lose weight. Who knows what happens when you stop taking them, you'll be back to being a fat fuck most likely. Finally, you could get tape worms. YOU CAN EAT ANYTHING, and then there's this worm inside of you that sucks up the calories out so you don't gain weight. WIN WIN! Oh you'll also be shitting worms and feeling stomach aches, BUT HEY YOU LOST WEIGHT WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND! Stomach parasite will forever be with you and never leave you for another, just keep giving them cakes etc and he'll take care of all your weight problems easy peasy.

The conservation of energy is not a gimmick. Food is energy. Your body either uses the energy to function or stores excess as fat. If you want to lose weight, either take in less energy or use up more of it.

I started cutting weight recently and I just:

Eat less
Run five miles every other day
Lift weights
Cut out all fast food and cheat meals
Still drink a little soda here and there, just a couple sips lol

Boom I'm leaner, clothes fit better, I look good, etc. etc.
