I'm thinking it is which is impressive considering how different it is. The only thing I'm missing rom the original is the A/B routes were handled better. Outside of that it's outstanding and probably the best game from this year so far.

For me too, it's the best game this year but I think that will change next month when doom comes out. I had alot of fun with remake2, it was fun to play through 3 times and now I kinda lost interest with a 4th run through

REmake is more faithful in style. I haven't played RE2make yet, but as great as it is, it's no REmake.

Surprising lack of Metroid Zero Mission in this topic. Say what you will about it's difficulty but it's a damn fine game and completely transformed the first game in the series.

I was going to mention it, but didn't. ZM and REmake are literally the gold standard of remakes

That's a good question. I really love ReMake and RE2Re. I don't know if it's nostalgia goggles that keeps REMake in such high regard. I mean I know it's GOOD but RE2Re good? Idk.

I'm gonna say RE2Re is better. Maybe because it's all shiny and new.
Looking forward to that FF7Remake too!

I think the one thing that puts RE2 Remake apart from REmake is that it's pretty much universally praised. REmake was fantastic for hardcore fans but for the time it was still in that awkward position where people wanted to see RE evolve in some way. Which happened immediately afterwards. I still love it though.

Zero Mission is a really good one too and achieved similar results. I don't think there's any reason to play the original over ZM.

I'd argue REmake is the better one since it improved on the first game without removing or sacrificing anything (...apart from the cheesy voice acting). Though REmake 2 is great because it plays wonderfully and looks amazing. It's just they sacrificed the big selling point of RE2 with the story and sequence of events changing depending on which character order you picked, which nearly offered four unique playthroughs of the game.

it's not even the best resident evil remake of all time

good game but lol, people went off the deep end just because they were playing something somewhat akin to survival horror for the first time in ages

I'm kinda scared of that game, because I love Jill. And like, even though I didn't lose my mind over Claire's new look in RE2, it is...decidedly worse than how she used to look.

But aside from that an RE3 remake is likely gonna be freaking fantastic. The city looked great in the RE2 remake and we'll get to see a lot more of it in an RE3 one.

People wanted RE4, which let's face it, in many ways was, Baby's first Resident Evil game.

I'm interested to see how much they change up RE3. Like if the city will still feel like classic RE or if they change it up to be something less linear.
