Currently have a Google Pixel 2. Im loving it and had it for two years but unfortunately it's battery has degraded to about 60%~ of its original capacity because of my dumb gaming methods with it and it was only about 2700 mah originally anyways.

I don't really want to spend too much ($500~ at the most) and was thinking about going Note 9. Pixel 4 doesn't look too appealing considering leaks and I expect it to be upwards of $700-800. 3XL looks alright but the big thing is the battery is only 3400. 3aXL is 3700 but slower processor.

Do y'all think the Note 9 will have deals or be around $500 by black Friday? I don't really keep track of Samsung products and discount history.

i have the note 9 and it's fantastic, personally id shoot for the 10 tho. it's expensive but you can probably find a good deal for it around black friday like you said. i bought my note 9 for $700 like a month after it came out so $500 might be a possibility, esp if you trade in your pixel 2 and do a carrier financing thing (they tend to have good deals to encourage you to finance).

Yeah I was looking at the 10 but...the base only has 3500 mAh compared to the 9's 4000? It's weird tho because despite that, the specs report they have the same screen time and the 10 lasts more on standby. But I guess the other big appeal to me about the 9 is the rear fingerprint sensor. I love my pixel 2's rear sensor and I honestly prefer it to any face unlock thing.

Also how does the pixel density thing work? The 9 has 516 PPI and the 10 has 401 but IDK if a higher number is better or not

is the oneplus an option?

PPI is pixels per inch.

Higher number means more pixels on your screen. Which would give you a better looking screen.

I was looking at that too actually. But people report that the battery isn't as great with the 90hz screen. I mean, I guess I can turn off the 90hz lol. Also, not sure how I feel about the pop up selfie cam, but I like how it's bezel-less at the top and no notch or weird hole punch.

The one plus 7t comes out next month for $600. It has no pop up. It's the 7pro that has the pop up

I've been deciding between the Zenfone or OnePlus 7 pro. Probably gonna get the 7 pro 7 in a few weeks though

The Zenfone works on T-Mobile, maybe Verizon, and att, but it is missing some bands for art(band 30) and TMobile (band 66 and 71 I think). But depending on where you live, those might not really matter. It's mainly with having good speeds in congested areas.

It has headphone jack, SD card, big battery, I think the flip camera is kinda cool. Honestly, if Asus hadn't had horrible phone availability these past couple months I might have bought it.

Yeah for the price the Zenfone 6 looks dope. The only off-putting thing I guess is the screen isn't apparently as good as the OLED screens? And the idea of the flip camera is cool so you get full resolution all the time. Just the fact that it's a motorized thing has me wary. It's one more thing that can break if you drop it or just malfunction through repeated use or something.

Man. The One Plus 7T is looking very appealing at $600. Just the two things are how huge the camera circle housing is on the back, lack of rear fingerprint sensor and apparently the camera isn't so great? But I could just port Google's camera software to remedy that right?

Think about it though. You're paying $600 for a phone with some nifty features whereas other companies would charge another $200+.

I hate to say it; beggars can't be choosers. It is probably the best phone you can get for the price.

Yeah. The camera housing and rear fingerprint sensor are just two things that I'm nitpicky about lol. I kinda wanna see the 90hz in action tho. Maybe I'll go to a T Mobile and check it out one of these days.

Outside of Google, apple, and Samsung, most cameras suck it seems. At least with phones widely available in the US.
Which sucks

Gcam is the best hope.
