How does 2D mode work? I tried to access but then it was making choose what point in the story to play. Is this a temporary mode just for fun that you can't collect anything? Will this reset my progress in 3D? I kinda bitched out and didn't try it yet lol

From what I've heard, exp, gold, and non-story items all carry over. But you have to pick one of the story checkpoints to switch over to. It will reset story progress in 3d if the checkpoint is before where you're at, but you'll be able to go back to 3d ahead of that if you hit another story checkpoint while playing 2d.
Not sure on if there are any limitations to it yet, like if you can endlessly duplicate items in chests and stuff. But it's certainly an interesting system, if a bit unwieldy. --- "If history is to change, let it change! If the world is to be destroyed, so be it! That's weird. Why wouldn't they just make it 1 to 1 I'm fairly certain it's because of how it worked initially with the PS4 and 3DS version. It was set up with a password system.
