It isn't feasible for most places. My company absolutely couldn't do it with the staff they have, nevermind the issue of adjusting pay to match.

10 hour jobs work for some positions, but not all.

Unfortunately, too many people hear, 3 Days off...but overlook the bigger picture.

You wouldn't have to adjust the pay for 4 10's. Same amount of hours.

4 10s is my normal shift and I love it. The hours can suck but it's worth it to have an extra day at home with my son.

Imagine being on the wrong side of history like TC is right now.

Hire more people and keep the pay the same. We have earned it by being more productive with fewer hours.

I just left a job where I had a 3 day weekend and it made such a huge difference... that third extra day for each weekend made it feel so long... thursday night would roll around and I'd actually feel like I had time to do things and relax.

Two day weekends are basically one day weekends since most people spend sunday preparing for the coming week.

Yeah and I bet with a three day weekend, people would feel relaxed much sooner into the weekend giving the last day of the weekend more depth to it.

I'd rather do the 8 a day so I can do something everyday as opposed to saving my free time for the weekend.

I've had 2 jobs where pay was adjusted based on when you started /ended (primarily this was just for overnight workers to get a bump) and a another where anything over 8 in one day was time and a half.

Why the hell would you not want 3 days off minimum every week? The first day of my weekend is always busy AF as the second I spend thinking about how I have to start another week of work the next day

I want it, but not every job can reasonably accommodate that, so pushing to make it standard just hurts them.

The bigger picture is I waste more time driving a round trip from work just to be less productive when I get there because the day ends sooner than it should.

Yup...because the big problem is you still have household errands to do during the weekend that couldn't be done during the week. Even your Saturday and/or Sunday is going to be spent catching up on chores around the house and the rest of the time, you're trying to mentally prepare for work.

And forget about it if you have kids.

I work for a non profit that struggles to find good workers when similar jobs can afford higher salaries. But hey nice job being wrong and ignorant as usual.

Well worker commute is a big deal in our society.
But you can thank suburbia for that.
Living close to work should be a life priority.

I had 4 10's and then 3 off for 3 years, had to switch to 5 day weeks for a temp Sup. gig. I ended up sticking with the 5 day week after that. The 10 hour shifts just started to feel like in those workdays I woke up, went to work, came home, ate and went to sleep. It just started feeling longer than it really was.

I worked at a place where I didn't get paid for lunch, so now that 10 is 10 1/2. Then take into account frequent over runs that kept me there 20 minutes late and my compulsive need to be early it was just me being away from home for nearly 12 hours a day when I factor in travel. For an introvert who just wants to be home, it got to be a little much.
