Freespace 2 is literally my favorite PC game of all time, so you'd be a colossal idiot by dismissing this opportunity to experience a classic. It controls wonderfully with keyboard/mouse so don't even worry about that.
Check out the third-party Knossos launcher for it. You get the latest graphics mods and the first game's campaign if you want to start from there, plus all the acclaimed mod campaigns/conversions. Highly recommended with spectacular value. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Also, like sabin017 said, it can be played with keyboard/mouse, but to get the full experience I highly recommend picking up at least a cheap joystick. There's a local electronics "thrift" store near me that sells older ones on the cheap, but you may not have anything like that near you. A game controller with thumbsticks is a reasonable substitute.
Either way, if you like flight or space sims at all, you need to fucking play this game ... Copied to Clipboard!
