Your motivation here is 'well, vaping is probably bad for you anyway

nah man. i just want actual science and not feelings. i don't want to hear conspiracy theories. i want studies and data.

What Americans need to be asking themselves is, why in a world where folks are vaping globally, are there only vape related deaths in America.

this might have something to do with that:

tYK3qmG

way more people are vaping in america than anywhere else, so it stands to reason that the deleterious effects thereof should present themselves in our pool sooner.

also, hockeybub is spot-on about all of this; the data to make a claim either way is probably some time away. it's why i don't like claims that go one way or another at this point. they're irresponsible.

Okay, thats almost nothing.

12 deaths out of 805 cases, out of 323 million people?

Stop the sensationalism.

How many people are lifelong vapers so far? Cigarettes don't seem very dangerous if you only judge by how many people die within their first few years of smoking

This is like arguing that obesity isn't bad for your health because cheeseburgers rarely kill you instantly.

arent the deaths from some underground experimental vape flavor or something?
the deaths from that got all the attention for AN ENTIRE VAPING INDUSTRY right?

But, if we ban vaping, then surely nobody's going to buy shady knockoff products of dubious quality out of the back of someone's car!

By this time next year, it'll be eight thousand deaths.

We definitely shouldn't ban vaping, but advocates really need to stop shilling for it and its safety before it gets studied and regulated. Give it a generation.

Vapers just come off sounding like those people that push natural remedies and fad diets. Like a door-to-door salesman.

pretty big industry to go and try and ban. i don't think prohibition 2020 would go so well, but the timing could be worse. the fedora came back.

Nobody with any sense ever claimed vaping was safe. It's just an efficient nicotine (or THC) delivery mechanism, that had flavors available after flavored cigarettes were banned in yet another "think of the children!" hysteria.

Maybe five years from now, we'll start seeing deaths from nicotine gum after irrational good intentions starts taking the flavors out that next.

I've yet to hear a vaper in my sphere of interaction go on about how vaping is perfectly safe; they just see this sudden hysteria for the sham that it is, and have a vested interest in getting their side of the story out there before John Q. Doesn't-Read-Past-the-Headlines buys into the frenzy and starts thinking store-bought peppermint disposables are killing kids left and right. I personally think vaping should be studied and regulated to high hell and back as well, and I doubt you'll find many vapers who disagree with that, especially when the alternative is a ban.

Gamefaqs is not comprised of many folks who can understand this which is sad but yet sort of expected.

Here's the problem.

The REAL issue is black market THC cartridges with Vitamin E, pesticides and God knows what else in them. All of the deaths but 1 occurred in illegal marijuana states where there is no legal, and therefore, regulated alternative.

Of course, anyone would look at this and think to themselves "maybe we should just legalize it so there's a legal market to compete with the black market" or at the very least come to the conclusion that vaping isn't the issue at all and is just a convenient scapegoat.

Instead our government just calls for an all-out umbrella ban of vape products when the shit that's actually killing people is being sold and purchased illegally anyway.

And then they'll fabricate mass hysteria over vaping because of 6 kids, but 80 people will die over the course of a single weekend due to mass shootings and they won't be anywhere near as quick and decisive about gun control.

And let me put it out there that while yes, we don't know what the long-term effects of vaping are, we do know that all of the deaths are not the result of vaping, but rather THC carts mixed with harmful chemicals.

This shit is like banning red Solo cups because people are drinking Bleach with them.

Strange comparison. How about all the people who will die over the weekend from smoking related issues.

Even that's not accurate. This is like banning red Solo cups because people are drinking bleach that was sold to them in vodka bottles with them. And I'm not invested in this at all, I just hate the blatant dishonesty of it

I think people should be frustrated over the fact that our leadership only takes swift action on matters that don't benefit them.
