Female ducks do this all the time, they often look after and take charge for little communities of baby ducks. These look like mallards, mergansers do this too. Sometimes they are just babysitting, sometimes it is taking over for another mom that has gone missing. Its pretty cool.

This communal brood watching (common brood called a crche) lets other moms feed, and the babysitters are often called aunts. Multiple aunts can team up so its not always solo either. Some other waterfowl do this such as eiders and geese.
