Yes, for an extra 3000 yearly after tax I will be so happy to leave a job that I can't literally get fired from unless I completely f*** up. A job I can go to work in sweatpants if I literally am too hungover to bother to get dressed properly and only woke up 20 minutes before work. A job that I get to post about Ronda Rousey on Turkish basket making forums. A job that I work less than 30 hours a week. And come out with enough to save 13000 euro a year.

All that is great but the fact I might get an extension on this garbage contract were I'm required to have a f***ing suit for client facing purposes and on call with no compensation, that is why the f*** I'm not interested.

"hmm, we could negotiate that you won't be required to start until 8:30 instead of 8am if that would help you take the offer"

Recruiters are f***ing idiots in this country.

Recruiters are like real estate agents to me. Quite often people fall into the false sense that they are aligned in interests/trying to help you out but really, you're just the by-product in the process. They are aligned with whoever is paying them and that's the company/employer or the property owner in this example, and those hefty commissions incentivise such behaviour.

But for me, I'm always polite and courteous to recruiters, happy for them to shout me dinner and drinks if they wish, but I'm always very clear that I am not actively looking but am just keeping an eye on the market in case something changes and piques my interest...

I have profiles with like two recruitment agencies in my city/country and not once have either even sent me an email regarding relevant job opportunities past the job I initially applied for leading me to make an account, so I certainly don't hold them in high regard. From my perspective it seems like they aren't even trying.

Btw Op you didn't say what the role actually was... other than it needs a suit and you can be called up outside office hours.

It is a 'client facing help desk role'
I don't think I've talked to a client in the last month

I refuse to do on call. I don't work with people who need password resets. I don't work for companies who think a suit is a good idea while you're playing cable finding.

I see. Would've thought you need a suit for a meeting but for actual day to day work you leave the jacket on the chair or something.

fair enough. I'm friends with the help desk guys in my office but I wouldn't envy that role and what they have to put up with.

I got ghosted by Google 3 years ago when I was desperate for a job. Since that time, I found my dream job and I'm starting to get my own research rolling

A couple weeks ago a recruiter from Google sent me a message to try to "reconnect" and see if I still had any interest in Google. I didn't even bother responding

I sit there watching anime or playing games. Wait for things like servers to break. Fix them.
Be the dude in the chair that sits around in case something goes boom basically.

my dad has a similar job but he used to use hyper terminal to dial in to client sites and fix things occasionally needing him to get up in middle of night and go to the physical site if the people on the phone couldnt do it.

They need someone there since it's out of hours and we're global and as part of the data redundancy plan, they have servers here. So I'm literally "dude in the country with nobody else awake, please help".
Fun job. Like hotel night work but I don't deal with anyone unless everything goes ka-boom in which case my default response is: it's 4pm in mainland China, they can deal with it.

Fair enough. I think that type of role would be a great job for when I'm older/want to retire and have a cruisy life.

I made a new topic/poll partially inspired by you but also there's a few others on here who have shared their very cruisy jobs (engineering guy and security guy come to mind).
