From a graphics standpoint I suppose because its lazy. The animations are also pretty bad for some pokemon. Gamecube games have better looking environments. Gamefreak is also a massive company so theres no reason for this.

Pokemon has and never will be about being a graphical juggernaut but at least gamefreak could have put a little more effort in some places.

I'm still going to buy and enjoy it.

Yes, once this happened it became the sole defining trait of the game. Nothing else matters anymore to these people.

We won't know. Sun/Moon looked decent from the trailers but ended up being horrible. All we can do is wait to see how it plays out. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the gyms. I think the gyms looking all the same(at least so far) is a bad choice on their part. If they made it look similar to the animes original version then it could work our wonderfully.

I hope additional generations of pokemon become DLC, not that I plan on playing this, but I might if I can has muh charmander

All the gyms have looked the same from yhe outside. The Anime isnt canon.

Need I go on? This wouldn't be so bad, except it's been all but outright confirmed that the reason for this lack of quality is because of GameFreak's OTHER game, that Town game that I can't be bothered to remember the name of. Except THAT game looks even worse! Animations are lazy, gameplay is boring, etc. etc. etc. Combined with Pokemon's slow but steady decline in quality, and you get what are probably the worst Pokemon games yet.

I provide all of this as evidence, and yet diehard fans will still react with "B-B-But you're just a hater!" (even though I've been a fan of Pokemon since I was 4), and continue throwing their money into the garbage bin that is GameFreak, which in turn, will give GameFreak the thought that "hmm, this is an okay thing to do!" and the cycle will continue endlessly.

I've bought at least one version of every mainline Pokemon game (not counting Gen 1 or 2, which came out before I got into the series), including Let's Go (if you count that as a mainline game, for some reason). At least with Let's Go, there was some enjoyment to be had in seeing just how bad it was. This will be the first Pokemon game I skip out on completely, as there is no hope for redemption, save for a patch that includes the National Dex (and even that might not save them) which would require GameFreak caving in to the fans after having already doubled down on their worst decision ever.

They will have all the old pokemon added in within a few generations. It's good to get a fresh start and keep hacked mons on handhelds
