do you even know what SWATTING is? They're told that this dude has likely already murdered someone.

The story that Tyler Barris told police was that that he already shot his father in the head, was holding his mother and a sibling at gunpoint in a closet and was considering setting the house on fire before killing himself.

So the swat team goes in there on edge because they are trying to prevent someone else, or themselves from getting shot. This isnt a joke, and I hope Others see that think, and think twice about it.

Makes no sense to remove all blame from the police. First off, an anonymous tip shouldnt give police the right to murder on-sight without proof of anything thats pretty fucking obvious. Second, even if their intel was at all accurate (instead of being 100% inaccurate as was the case here), and there were hostages: shooting on-sight carries a high risk of hurting a hostage. So, also pretty fucking obvious not to do that. The murderer is a dumbass and should be locked up.

the murderer is the dumbass kid who called SWAT with fake intel. The SWAT officer had to make a judgement call based off what he was seeing with his own two eyes and the intel he had received.

The cop also needs to at least lose his job. Nothing happening to him seems wrong. You don't want someone who shoots unarmed people when they open the door to be cops.

Yeah I feel like people are going too easy on him because they have someone else to blame. It terrifies me that cops are allowed to open fire on any random civilian as long as some other random civilian says someone has a gun.

Damn, I haven't seen a strawman this amazing since the last time I watched The Wizard of Oz.

Also, think about this deeply, I mean really think about it. Even if nobody died, even if the dude just got swatted and nothing serious happened, what kind of psychopath does that? Dont just say it's a young kid being stupid. I was a teenager once, and never in a million years would I even consider manipulating events to get a seat team to raid someone I was angry with online. I mean think back when you were a teen. When you were 18 years old. Is that something you would have considered doing? You have to be seriously fucked up in the head to do something like that. That's like, killing and torturing animals for fun level of crazy. Someone who swats even with no deaths involved needs to be taken away from society imo. It's no different than if he pulled a gun on a guy himself and ordered him around doing shit just for sadistic pleasure. It's not just a teenager not knowing the serious of what hes doing. It's not just boys being boys. It's a deeply disturbed individual.

It's crazy circumstances. When a "swatting" call is placed, they usually tell the police something crazy like "i heard gunshots & screaming in the house" or something to that extent. Typically late at night as well - then when the police show up they bust in thinking the worst. People are woken up by the police busting in, and in the panic of not knowing what is going on, mistake the police for burglars, and people get shot. In some cases, the police shoot first.

15 months is light. If I were him, I'd be ecstatic that was all I were getting. He deserves years behind bars. Sentences for this should get increasingly longer until this stops.

Where I live, you are allowed to start driving at 16(but you have to drive the 1st year with someone with their official liscense) and you are out of high school at either 16 or 17 depending on when you were born. Honestly even at 16 years old, you are supposed to be mature enough to know doing this is wrong. People should really stop talking like he was a 5 years old kid who do not know better.

Judges don't have to accept plea deals and can alter the a guilty sentence as long as it's within the set limits.
