UnfairRepresent 09/14/19 9:04:23 AM #1:	A golden toilet entitled America, has been stolen from the birthplace of Winston Churchill in the early hours of this morning. The loo, worth 1 million, was part of an art exhibition on display at the Oxfordshire residence when it was taken. It was plumbed in and available for visitors to use. Police said the toilet was ripped from the floor, causing significant damage and flooding and it has not yet been recovered. The golden lavatory was designed by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, and drew large crowds when it was exhibited in New York. The artwork is named America and its theft was reported just before 5am this morning. No-one was hurt during the burglary but Blenheim Palace was closed until lunchtime. Last month, ahead of the toilets installation, the Duke of Marlboroughs half-brother, Edward Spencer-Churchill, said the lavatory wouldnt be the easiest thing to nick. Mr Spencer-Churchill told the Times: Firstly, its plumbed in and secondly, a potential thief will have no idea who last used the toilet or what they ate. So no, I dont plan to be guarding it. Detective Inspector Jess Milne from Thames Valley Police, said: The piece of art that has been stolen is a high value toilet made out of gold that was on display at the palace. Due to the toilet being plumbed in to the building, this has caused significant damage and flooding. 'We believe a group offenders used at least two vehicles during the offence. The artwork has not been recovered at this time but we are conducting a thorough investigation to find it and bring those responsible to justice. Residents will see an increased police presence in the area while officers and staff carry out enquiries. I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area to contact police.
