It was the newest Smash around for when the Internet blew up and it had free reign for 7 or so years before Smash 4 was even mentioned. It cemented itself in internet culture.

I think the only other one you could really make an argument for is smash 64 and a significant part of the argument would be "it spawned the series and thus is at least as influential as any of the later entries" but that's sort of missing the point imo

There was certainly something huge about Brawl at the time even though I ended up not enjoying it all that much. Smash Ultimate's gonna be amazing post-DLC though, I just have a feeling.
